The gueridon is a small table standing on at least one column, which can be in the form of a sculptured mythological or human figure. When it first emerged in 17th-century France, it became a great way of decorating the home. The first Gueridon tables had supports modeled on African, Greek, and Ancient Egyptian human traditional figures.
On its own, a gueridon table can act as the perfect decoration. However, its use went beyond that. In palaces and upscale French and English homes, the tables held candelabrum and flower vases.
Gueridon tables have other decorations besides the attractive supports – including termini, tripods, columns, and mythological figures. For example, the tables had carved decorative motifs and were gilded. Even though wood formed the base material, gueridon tables featured enamel and silver.

Ideally, it should stand at an equal distance from the arms of the chairs to create a symmetrical look. Besides, a gueridon table can stand perfectly near a window and display a small vignette.

If you intend to place furniture away from the walls, fill the resultant space using a gueridon table. It is the perfect way to provide a reliable surface for accent lighting. Also, it could serve as a console table or as a divider of the space behind the sofa and next to the wall. They can only work as sofa tables if their height is at least that of the back of the couch.
