(Above photo - Tom Cruise: Mouth Wide Open ) Hollywood star Tom Cruise was recorded making an angry rant at crew members on the set of “Mission: Impossible 7” just down the road from us at the Warner Bros. studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire. It just goes to show no one is immune from the stresses caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, even Hollywood A-listers. You can listen to the clip here:
Tom shouted: “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf—ers,” he yells in the leaked audio clip from The Sun.
“I don’t ever want to see it again! Ever!,” he carries on.
Cruise then warns: “If I see you do it again, you’re f—ing gone.”
Allegedly, crew members were huddled around a screen viewing takes - kind of doing their jobs - which prompted the outburst from Cruise as they weren't social distancing. Cruise has invested much of his own money - according to The Sun he paid $676000 for a cruise ship for the crew and cast to isolate on during shooting - so obviously nerves and tempers were high with so much at stake. Many film shoots have been shut down since March in an industry that has been sadly decimated by the pandemic.

Cruise continued: “You can tell it to the people that are losing their f—ing homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education,”
“That’s what I sleep with every night. The future of this f—ing industry! So I’m sorry, I am beyond your apologies.”
“If I see it again, you’re f—ing gone,” he repeats. “And you are — so you’re going to cost him his job, if I see it on the set, you’re gone and you’re gone.”
Hopefully 2021 will see improvements and a return to some form of 'normality' as vaccinations are handed out. Being well located for the Hertfordshire film industry we offer prop hire and set design services for the industry and we have obviously experienced a downturn in our hire business during the pandemic. Let's hope things improves for 2021 - my view is we have to be optimistic and have surely endured the worst whilst being positive for the impact mass vaccinations will surely engineer. Hopefully it's a case of 'Mission Possible' for 2021.

Tom Cruise has a long history with Hertfordshire, he lived here back in the late 1990s when shooting Stanly Kurbrick's 'Eyes Wide Shut' with co-star (and now ex-wife) Nicole Kidman. My favourite anecdote about his time in lovely Hertfordshire was when he tried to hire a DVD at a local Blockbuster Video store. He didn't have ID at the time and the clerk wouldn't let him take a movie home, even when he picked up covers of 'Top Gun', 'Rainman' and 'Jerry Maguire' as supposed ID!
